Imagine a day when people feel secure enough about the cost of getting medical services that they do not spend 16% of their gross income buying insurance that they never use. By means of a marketplace format where anyone can list their services for the public we hope to make folks more comfortable shopping for care.
The mission of FairCareMD is to improve the care that people get for their healthcare dollar. By paying your Doctor fairly and directly patients can improve their care because the doctor can spend more time with you than the traditional insurance-based fee schedule permits or encourages – just by cutting out the insurance middleman. When you make the deal yourself with your doctor, you know exactly what you are getting.
So who are we developing this site for? For two groups: regular folks, and regular folks who happen to be health care providers.
People: If, like about half of all Americans, you are paying out of pocket for your medical, vision, or dental care, this site is being developed for you.
Doctors: If, like most doctors, you are reducing your participation with insurance plans due to small fees and large hassles, this site is for you.
The method of this site is connecting these two large groups in new and creative ways. We are open to suggestions, but you will soon see our beta site here so please tell us what you like and don’t like.
What is in it for FairCare other than the benefits of a positive impact on society? We will make money by charging healthcare providers a small fee to be listed. How small? How about $30 a month small – anywhere from 30% to 2% of what others charge for similar services. We figure that is a fair fee and we can make enough on the site to begin generating new projects that will help with our mission - like the cancer research fund and animal welfare site we are already planning.
Provider signup days have begun so email at Providers@FairCareMD.com if you are a Provider who wants to get a 30 day free subscription or look for the “Sign up Here” button (coming this week I think!)
Thank you for your patience, I think you are going to like the results!
